Hey, Just purchased a 49 chevy fleetline and I'm glad this forum is here. I've got allot to learn. I'm searching the posts for answers first because there is very good info here. I'm ready to clean my ride up and get it just the way I want it. Mark
Welcome to the HAMB. What part of Illinois are you from? I'm from No. Illinois. I'd like to see your Fleetline,I just bought a '51 Fleetline.
Wanting to lower it a little, maybe replace suspension, and upgrade to a newer inline 6. On a budget of course. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I did Fatman dropped uprights and steering arms on mine with 3 in. blocks in the back. I got luck an found the uprights and steering arms used for $250. If you buy them new they're going to cost you. I did the uprights because I was also going to drop it a couple more inches with dropped springs. Other cheap alternative on the front is starting out with lowering springs. Beware of Jamco though, you might want to check out these guys, I've heard good reviews on them: http://www.coilsprings.com/
Welcome from Virginia (the state, that is. LOL) I've got a couple of Chevy projects with 216's you might find interesting. You can read about them at the 216 group linked in my signature. (Mo's Builds, #I & #II). Stop by, and let us hear about your progress. It looks like a good starting point!
