Pete just got his Caddy flathead powered '32 roadster on the road last week. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=572828&showall=1
Here's the one that is currently the Worlds most powerful Caddy flathead, at over 700HP on alcohol, and 189 MPH-the FlatCad.
I always liked those Caddy flatheads. I also like the Cord 810/812 flatheads from 1936/37. I have a friend who is a total geek over them. I think he has 8 of them now including a convertible. The 289 ci made 125 hp stock and 170 with the supercharger version in the 812's. Plus, the car's design is way out there for the time.
These awesome mills just make my heart race. The over the top exhaust is a feature that charms everyone seeing it. This instills a sense of nostalgia that is genuine. Thanx for sharing the wonderful info on this great subject. Walter Nakamura is one of my all time heros. ~sololobo~
Hey 39 thanks for the heads up! Mine is more of a cruiser than buddy's that's for sure! The weak link is the muncie overdrive transmission, not great for drag strip passes, but will be nice on the freeway. Fortunately it has the chevy bolt pattern on the bellhousing. I'd still consider it a hot rod more than a custom. For some reason I like building stuff that has exhaust exits right in my face. Hopefully will get it running soon. TP
Travis, I've told you before how much I love that car! If you ever decide to get rid of it, I think I'm gonna have to try and trade you out of it!
Hey Buddie! Well it's slowly becoming more respectable, but it's far from the peach that it looks like in the photos! Funny cause I was thinking...Hmm if team flatcad ever had a second race engine... I'll put you on the top of my list! TP

I t looked like you had a 40 deluxe hood on there. I had noticed you had switched to the 39 grill and hood later on in the build. Some guys want to keep calling them 40's after the switch. regardless I just found your build thread a week ago and have really enjoyed reading it. Your metal skills and imagination are outa this world!
No problem here 39 I still call it a 40 as it was a 40 deluxe originally. If you've figured out, we've got two of these. The green one is more complete and (almost) too nice for me to cut up, so it's been fun to modify the rusty one with no restrictions. Thanks for checking in on that build thread! TP
I have one of these Cadillac V8's in my old boat Mary Lou. It is fitted with a factory fitted heat exchanger cooling system and uses a soft clutch - pretty cool back in the day. -H.R.D- A brief history- Marylou was constructed in Port Adelaide in 1931 and she is made out of Honduras Mahogany, a rare timber that was banned from being cut years ago, so its worth a bit just for the timber. I was told she was a regular on the Port river with the Adelaide speed boat club at Snowdens Beach. I have had this boat for years and 'want to restore it some day'. Originally Im told, it ran a Rugby 4 cyl motor, then a 'new' Ford V8 and after 2nd world war, the owner obtained a bigger, Army surplus, brand new Cadillac side valve V8 from Sven Kallins (old Adelaide people will recognise that name). The boat was fitted up and raced in and around the south east of S.A. and Western VIC. on lake Charligrark etc. The then owner used to tow it with an Austin A90! The motor is still as new and has done vertually no work from new as there were skeg, shaft and propeller issues and was boat was seldom used.
Zibo, I wondered if you were running a Cad in that thing. That was the only explanation I could think of for that exhaust, very cool.
That is a famous Aussie Hot rod built by Terry Scully in 60s, it got wild by the late 60s, Terry still owns the car but it is now powered by a 351 Cleveland.
Thanks! He went 172 this year and has a few ideas of how he will get more out of the motor next year. Here is a pic of his 34 roadster he built over 20 years ago with a Cad Flathead, Edmunds Heads, 2x2 intake and duel exhaust. It also has a 32 Cad dash, all 32 Cad gages, Cad Wheel, Columbia rear end and Kinmont Disc breaks.
ambsn, you're pops is cool! He and I have shared info, parts, and beers! He had me out to his house, and spent time with me at Greg's flowing my engine. Great dude!
