Nice! I'm having a 283 built, as I write this.

The link isn't working for me. I've got a 283 I'm needing exhaust for and really wanted to hear it. Here's a screen shot of what I get.

  7. I'm more impressed it cranks itself and revs! The audio would make for a nice morning alarm.

That really is a nice sounding exhaust system......not at all like Flowmasters, definitely more hot roddy. Also, not raspy and annoying. Yes, I like it a lot.

Yeah I think they sound good too. Shopping for mufflers now so this was cool. Even though they are called Mellow Tones they are crisp sounding. Some glass packs I've heard are kind of muddy sounding.

GAWD! I hate the sound of Flowmasters. That is the most annoying exhaust ever and my neighbor two houses down, revs his truck every time he sees me working on my car.

im running brockmans on my truck as well.I really like them and they were great to work with.I listened to a lot of videos to compare to the porters. To me they sound just as good and they were about half the cost of porters.Dont get me wrong the porters are nice as well but when I can save some money for other stuff I usually go that direction. They seam to be well built and should last a few years.Planning on buying from them again for my dodge coupe project.Ive actually had a few people come up to me and ask me how I like my porters.

Sounds a lot more crisp than the Cherry Bombs under my C10 with a 283. I went with 36" and turn-down dumps right in front of the rear axle. Resonates like hell at 30 mph.

  20. That sounds really great. Trying not to veer off subject here, but what was THE muffler to have for a little 283 back in the early to mid 60s?

Brock and Elaine are GREAT people, and they make a great products!
They can make you mufflers with glass, steel or no packing. From 18" on up. They can also advise you what might sound best for what you want, as they've been doing this for as long as I've known them....30 years????
The only other muffler I've had on any of my cars was a set of original Smitty's I found in carlisle in '81. I run Mellowtimes on all my Kustoms.

I'm also a Brockman man. I knew as soon as I talked to him on the phone that I had found my mufflers. When the guy on the phone says "I will build them however you want them" you know you're dealing with a mom and pop operation. That's the kind of place where I like to spend my money.

    My 63....

Early sixties - glasspacks or Walkers; later on Corvair Turbos were real popular. Just as now it depends on what kind of car it was - rod or custom.
