wow! '42 Fords never were common....

  2. To me, this doesn't really look like a recent photo. The "newer" cars have too much gloss to the paint.

Funny you should say that. The patina paint job with the Standard service station logo is the reason I took this photo; and as BOMB supposed, this photo was taken 20 years ago-proving that I have always liked the look of a real old car-long before patina caught on as a fad.

I know guys who would say "keep dead tree in the bumper".

I'll meet you halfway and say yes ot the chop, but then lets drive the hell out of it before we decide what to do with the paint job?

From the same yard. Even better evidence than a shiny Pinto that the photos are old is the fact a '57 hardtop is sitting in a junk yard at all.

  12. That '42 Ford coupe is a rare bird. Note the blackout trim around on the grille surround and parking light housings. That indicates it was built toward the end of civilian car production in February '42.

  13. Old Crusader. Looks like a 57 chevy in there to.

My first 59 ElCamino. saved from the scrapper 10 years ago, now my buddy has it. Still sitting, but the interest is rising again. Originally customized in 1960 in the Sacramento area, so the story goes. There was a bill of sale signed by a Joyce Barris, dated November1962 . Supposedly Sam Barris owned and drove it. I saw the paperwork, but did not get it with the car. Cool story though.[IMG]
