Coming full circle.. "pics please" is what I was asking for. Apparently nobody currently on the HAMB either has done it.. or has taken pics...ha!

Oh well... it was worth a go.

IF I do it I will throw in some pics.. Not wanting to stir the pot further.. just 'cuz people are curious.

If it stays in the Buick I'll post 'em anyway.

  3. Wasn't it Ed Roth who said "Make cool with what you've got"? I've always been more of a Chevy guy, but mostly just like cool old stuff, I say go for it. I'm tired of seeing a SBC in 80% of rides at the local cruise-ins

Don't tell the Chevy guys about Ford performance, let them think we are slow. I need the income.

Go for it. I'm a Chevy guy, but I just sold our 90 Mustang LX 5.0/auto (we were the original owners). I thought about putting the powertrain in the 51 Bus Coupe at one time, but after I gave the car to the nephew he wanted a SBC/auto. IO once had an 82 Chevette Scooter (go to college car) I bought new, and took good care of it. After college I had a 260 SBF with a 2 speed auto I thought about sticking in the Chevette; I still wish I had done it. SBF's are a bit narrower, the distributor's in the front, and the Bronco pan can be used to convert to rear sump. Seems like it would be easy enough to do. So do it! Butch/56sedandelivery.

if you like sbf then do it .but if your one of those guy,s who want to piss people off then spent alot of $$$$$$ and make it fast about 10 years ago there was a 51 chopped chevy coupe that had a 289 with 2-4,s on it it was a nice car but not fast people just pick on him ' there was a 49 fast back out of conn ran out e-town not go but a sbf is a good motor and thats hot rodding put a body that you like and the drivetrain you like myself i,m a sbc,s guy i just like them but i also love y-blockswhat ever you do enjoy it and due it for you

  8. After you instal the ford sb....you should lift it 12 inches, and put 26" wheels on it, and better yet a $5k sound system.

You should sell the sbf, send the 235 my way. Then find yourself a BBC with tunnel ram and cram that into the chevy. :)

Consider if you're keeping this car for a long time or not, it will be a hard sell when its time.

I will probably have a sbf in my 37 Chevy p/u some day,has a 235 with issues plus I never had what you would call a decent sbc with the two I did have and the 235 in my 37 is not worth bragging about. Since the days are long gone when you could find a running 50s Olds rocket motor that could be cleaned up and dropped in I will probably use one of the smallblock Ford motors I have that I know are good to power my 37.

    I had a friend put a 350 sbc in a 1956 T-Bird. Another put a Ford Flathead in his 1949 Chevy.
When we asked them why they just said "because I can.":D
I put a 327 sbc in an Austin Healey Sprite.

Why not? I've got a Ford in a Mopar. I see nothing wrong with mixing and matching.
