I'm thinking a car that size might be too heavy for an actual or vintage reproduction racing gasser, but I suppose it could have been run further down the alphabet, eh, like J gas or something? Still, I knew plenty of guys who built gasser style cars for the street, from just about anything imaginable. All show, a little more go, but very cool to cruise in. I wonder if anyone ever made a one-piece tilting front body clip for this car? Gary

The engine itself may be worth buying the whole thing, if the price is right.

I told the guy I was going to pass on the car. It was too big of a project.

Probably a good move. I paid $1400 for mine and its way better than that.

I'd pay a grand for the motor/trans/frame but the body would be something I would cut up to patch another junkyard body that I would get. But the other donor junkyard '60 would be paramount in the build. OR you could use the existing body panels to do a 2dr conversion on a solid 4dr body. Either way a TON of work and Dedication required there.

I could come up with a good parts car for it but I don't have the cash for both.

Sounds like the money is already tied up in the motor at your buddies house. What to hell in another year or two there won't be a '55/'57 Chevy with out a straight axle. That '60 would be a standout! Slap a little mud around the cutom rear end finish it up right. The rest will come along in good time.

  14. That would make a better custom or lowrider. Those things are HEAVY.

That car is up in northern Illinois. I looked at it already. It's 1500.00 and really rough. I'd pass.

  18. It's at $5,665.55 and reserve not met. Did you leave out a zero?

  22. My guess is he wants fifteen THOUSAND, not fifteen HUNDRED.

It's got a great story with it, but unless the seller can document the Nickey Chevrolet connection, it's just a story.

The way the rear of the car looks, possibly they were thinking 67-68 Thunderbird tail lights? Thinkin bout it, I think that would look sharp.

WOW, just noticed how old this thread is.....

I'm telling you guys that car was on Craigslist for 1500.00 4 months ago. It was packed in the back of a RV storage building. Guys name was Dave. If its up to 5000 now on eBay that's fine, but it could have been had for 1500.00. No BS.

The impala in the first posting, the blue one with no front end was 1500.00.

  28. That would be a decent deal.

    Too rough to build?

1 if you don't know how to do it,
2 if you don't have enough money to finish it.
3 if you don't have enough time to do it,

Yes its Too rough to build.

Other than that, it's a piece of cake!

To rough as in there's no floor or braces, no trunk floor or braces, no fire wall, no vin and no title, no steering. Just to name a few problems. (With the blue impala, one in the first post).
