Hello guys,am back with a new project. After going thru divorce, the dust has settled.I picked up a 1953 chevy belair 210 coupe. This will be a full custom.i plan on chopping the top, using the stock rear glass, changing the grill opening, taillights(ala moonglow)etc...am looking for 1956 chrysler taillight Red lenses to start...I know, another chevy,,,,hope to mix lots of past custom tricks on this car..First things first is to repair dents and minor rust.will be a cool project.and hope to post progress pics when the customizing begins..stay tuned
I remember dragging my car home and it looked a lot like yours, looks like you got a nice solid car to start with. Keep posting pics of your build. Here's my project http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=788175
it is a solid desert car,i usually start with rust buckets.this one has dents but very little cancer.
Started chopping today..worked on it about 4 hrs.,my son showed up to lend a hand.Am glad for his help.will post up pics later tonight.
looks good. if you have not welded up front of roof think about using stock windshield along with the back window. lower into body to correct height. u channel with rubber lining used to support glass. cut roof accordingly. use stock rubber sealer around exposed glass.
I used this technique in a car I built in '84.I think with the availability of new laminated glass, and the different approaches to cutting down glass,as demonstrated by some Hambers,I would rather cut down the glass..thanx for the suggestion...
I have the all pillars roughed in.At this point i am considering taking a little more off the top.Maybe 1 1/2"-2"....The door window openings are 10" tall,i am considering a 8" opening.Any suggestions are welcome.
here is an update ...been busy..making custom skirts for it,a little bigger tha stock so they cover more tire.
Perfect car for your ideas !! Good luck....understand the Divorce....been there done that years back...
