There's lots of us watching with great interest. We just don't have anything to add to a great build!

Except maybe you could add a plastic action figure.... :D

I can say the same about the GJ forum as well as here on the HAMB. So much to take in.

Ed is the action figure here. So much on the go we never see him in the photos.

That was in reference to another thread that had a hundred pictures of "Thor" and two pictures of a Merc. I was called an old curmudgeon or something because I requested less silly action figure pics and more of the Merc.

[EDIT] It wasn't curmudgeon, it was "crusty bunch", LOL.

Well that blows me away - THANKS daddio. Yer no crumudgeon!

Here's a couple of famous examples of what I would like to go for. I'll remove my fenders and boards to start, but I think it'd be cool if I could get them into shape and make them easily removable. Would be a great way of having 2 very different styles in one rod.

The tire picture is very funny! I love '26/'27 roadster pick up there so cool looking. There a stock one that runs around in San Luis Obispo, Ca and it looks great running down the road. I've never had a change to talk to the owner of the pickup his always on the move a real driver. Glad to see your build it with the wood bed very nice. Will be watching.................... :D

Finally got some time to do some more on the T rod today-

Careful use of the cutting torch yielded separation of the fender brackets without damaging the frame:

By the time I got done, it was getting late:

More on the T-rod set-up today.....

Being a one-man operation, it sometimes takes me a while to get things done - but get done they do. It just takes a little more thought and the use of all the tools at my disposal....

Yesterday I pulled the left fenders and running board -

then I pulled the rear axle assembly - which came off much easier than expected.

After removing the right side fender assembly, I hooked it up to the crane in order to get the body and frame up onto the table -

The Pullz-All comes in handy in a variety of settings.

Once back as far as the table would allow, I lowered it onto some dowel pieces to make moving it on the table easier -

Now I can get started on the seperating the body from frame and the metal work on each piece.

Put a fresh coat of etch primer on the wheels to confer some protection when I straighten out some damage -

Then got started on tearing down the rear end -

Just read all 6 pages. Great work!
Like idea of where you are heading. Good forward thinking on the removable fenders. I am building towards being able to drive to a show and lift off my body when I get there. Shhhhh

Thanks man. It's in the planning stages and will be a long-term project. I have the 40 Ford and Datsun to get done first:

Lots of metal work and sanding on the 40 Ford this weekend -

The dash had square holes on either side that originally held ashtrays (!) - one for the driver, one for the passenger of course. The Vintage AC system had square outlets that "almost" fit, but not quite. After a few discussions, the owner decided the round ones would look better, so asked me to fill and cut round holes instead -

He also asked me to fill the giant speaker hole in the centre - so you wouldn't look through the chrome grille and see wires and AC tubes -

Shaping the patches crown to match the hole -

After the outer holes where filled I cut them open again with the hole saw -

And the round AC outlets fit right in -

In between doing that and metal-finishing the patches, we sanded.....and sanded....and sanded -

This shot - with flash - shows all the crap in the air....

Going to get the 240Z sanded out too before spraying more high build primer on both vehicles...

Rest day today (and it's Fathers Day so I spent it with my kids...) :D

Haven't been feeling 100% this week (damn weather!) so I'm gonna take some days off in preparation of my annullar "Builders Holiday" come July. The month is well laid out already, beginning with harvesting parts from a wrecked 38 Ford Truck for my 27 rod project while attending the in-laws 50th anniversary up in Porcupine Plain. Once back, I'll be doing a final sanding on the 40Ford and then getting it into a (hopefully) final coat of high build primer. It will then get a final sanding on my end before going back to a paint shop.
While it's gone for paint I'll be getting a start on the 27 "E-Rod" as well as getting my Datsun painted! If all goes well, both the 40 Ford and the Datsun will be painted in August.

Then it'll be a fine winter of clean re-assembly on both!! :)

After another year "away" from my t-rod project (aptly named the E-rod), I've promised myself I'm gonna give it a permanent bay in the shop and get moving on it.

Now that I've collected most of the parts required, I'll build a welding jig-table specifically for the E-rod in one bay, leaving a bay for the 71-240Z , one for a 1953 International 4x4 and the last for a 1964 Ford Falcon convertible I'm just starting on.
