This car is a time capsule, pictures don't do it justice! The doors just click shut....it's amazing!

My friend Tony came over today to build the exhaust system, It is full stainless with the stainless porter mufflers. He is building pure artwork. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1377980612.885168.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1377980632.653007.jpg

It's a dog's life...Kool car! I would drive it just like it is, nothing better than a clean old Merc.

After spending a very long weekend with my friend Tony, a few sticks of pipe, several mandrel bends and some beautiful polished Porters we finally got the exhaust system done. We built the system with v-band clamps so it will all come apart in sections if the car needs to be worked on in the future. We thought we were done until my dad decided to have us put some dumps on it. It all looks pretty cool, but it's a shame no one will ever see it, so I took some pics of the h-pipe off of the car. I did find a little bit of time to work on the engine, I cleaned up the original hardware for the generator and cooling fan so I can get things fit back on it. Hopefully soon we can make some smoke. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1378169829.543560.jpg

Well... Here is the latest I haven't made as much progress as I wanted to but I'm getting real close to starting it for the first time since 1966. I have the cooling system all in and filled, most of the fuel system is done except for plumbing the pump and regulator. I had plans of starting it last night but after trying to get the gear off of the original distributor I gave up and ordered a new one, I have rebuilt too many TFI distributors to count but the rivet holding the gear on was a new one for me. I think it is made out of kryptonite... Anyway a couple of pics ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1380591942.860931.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1380591993.630992.jpg

It has been a while since I updated this thread. The Merc is up and running now, I have put about 50 miles on it just trying to shake it down. I have had a few problems with the overdrive and it still isn't working but we can cruise around the country roads until I get the new solenoid. I'm absolutely amazed at this car, it is so quiet, no squeaks or rattles... the thing is tight. Crazy for a car that sat for nearly half a century! I've been playing with my new iPhone camera, here are a couple of b&w pics. I drove the Merc into BirmingHAMB today, I figured if I have to be there at least I could take something to work on. I took this pic in the cobblestone alley next to our trans shop. It's kind of cool to work at a place that actually sold model t's new
