That's awesome. Your keeping the flathead and not putting some SBC in it. Really nice to see that respect for tradition and class
Excellent. Really looks nice. Be sure and "save' the VIN number stamped on the inner frame rail in photo #4.
I will be working on a before/after book when I get all finished up, but so far it's been a fairly mild resto/mod with many projects that may come up in the future. Here's a quick and dirty summary. The car was already lowered 3" with blocks in the rear and heated springs. These deformed springs were one of the first things I replaced with cut to fit springs. The front end was completely disassembled replacing pretty much all of the wearable suspension parts (tie-rod ends, a-arm supports etc, shocks, bushings, etc.) The steering was converted to power (could write a book on this but kept 3 on the tree shifting for now at least with some major mods), engine rebuilt with new Edelbrock heads and intake with 3x2 Holley 94s and Fenton headers. Fuel pump changed to electric and fan removed because of space problems replaced with an electric Spal pusher. Rebuilt the gauges that had lost most of their letter/numbers. Replaced all sweeps/channels/seals and windows except rear window (windshield was a real BIOTCH). Shaved door handles. Repainted pretty much all (two-tone with Cast Iron/Merlot along body line). I'll post more later but for now here's another teaser.
So many shows I want to go to, but I will be in So. Oregon that weekend hopefully with the Merc if I can get it on the road by then for the Medford cruise. I will be around all summer though hope to make more events.
Yup. Couldn't decide on paint anyway and I love the look of cast iron. Will be attempting to smooth the rattle lines a bit but not too much because I want it to look more like a 50-60s garage restore.
