I've followed this thread for a long time now and have always wanted a Wagon of my own. After searching for years, I found the right one and can now contribute some pics. 1965 Mercury Comet Villager.

This one came from Southern California, but is now right at home here in Hawaii. It's gone through a couple of wheel changes so far. I had problems with the offset of the Supreme's in the rear wheel wells so ended up with Chromie's.

I rarely choose white walls, but that looks fantastic!

So, those are chrome wheels, and not Cyclone wheel covers?

Thanks! It took a long time before I made the decision to commit the "sin" of throwing white walls on a set of Supreme's, but was happy with how they looked...only to be disappointed when I had clearance issues. Now I'm happy with the Chromie's and medium white wall combo.

Yes, they're chromed wheels from Wheel Vintiques.

    Hey Jason,
I like your wagon! Looks pretty clean.

  9. Digging the Comet wagon. Hard to find those suckers are! I have a Cyclone and my father a Caliente Conv. Always wanted a wagon to complete the set! I have many extra Cyclone specific parts and wanted to convert the rear of the wagon with the taillights and trim panels.

This is the same car that's on post#2957 with a 3M wrap over the patina. saving the original paint and patina for the next care giver of this wagon sometime down the road

WOW, what a difference the wrap makes. looks good from 20 ft. how about closer up.

  12. Agreed, perfect use of a wrap. Keeping original patina protected and refreshing the looks of the car. Well done. Love that wagon!

Interesting idea. It will be interesting to see what happens under that wrap once you take it off? My guess is that the car will be well cared for in your garage and the mild California climate. I could envision some circumstances where the vynil might let rust grow under the skin. I just don't know.

What I like most is your attitude the preserve the car for future owners. More of us should think long and hard before taking permanent steps to change a car permanently.

I'd love to keep it pretty original but need headliner panels except for far rear and far front and factory rear roof ac panel - all the rest are gone. I also am needing both rear taillights and the stainless over passenger front fender and bottom. A replacement windshield would be nice too and a couple pics of the spare tire area from others cars as mine is not there(literally)! I have the original 413 and tf but it has a 440 in it now. I am going to get rid of the wheels and get something else.......Want to hook the original tranny back to the 440 and use the pushbutton dash in a bad way, is that just a bolt back up with original driveshaft? I have all of it. Besides that, I just can't wait to actually drive it!!!!!!!!!! C Montgomery, maybe yours has a good floor in that area?!??! hint hint to pics ....thanks for any help, hopefully be running and driving soon.

Just picked up this 67 Suburban 3dr. Has a 402 big block, 2" drop spindles and 3" lowered rear.

Looking at doing a 2" chop to get the proportions a little better.

I had a 58 Mercury Commuter 4 door hardtop that I sold at an R&M auction about 7 years ago in Canada. I wish I had kept that one as a tow car for my Thames.:(

QUOTE=mattlance13;7707693]Now I have seen Edsels, and I have seen Oldsmobiles, and I have seen Chryslers and Fords (all wagons being quite scarce now), but I have NEVER seen a '57-9 Mercury wagon, ever. Any out there?
