9/1/13 Sunday Models.

Finkwagon I did years ago. Bought a bunch of 'em on sale for parts. Had a vision and here it is. Only Finkwagon I've ever built.

 

And one for the shoebox crowd.

 

Yeah Bob the humidity did a number on your paint job!I used Model Master acrylic French Blue on my model A and it came out smooth as silk when I airbrushed it!

 

The blu on your "A"bone Looks awesome. I use spray bombs. That french blue lays down better than any paint I've used from Testors. Been tryin to help my stepson & his friend get involved in the hobby this wkend. Guess I showed them what not to do huh?

 

Not your fault.If you use the same methods and get great results with other models then the humidity or contaminated paint are the cause!

 

I'm leaning toward humidity. One of the cans I tried had never been used. I broke the seal on it myself,used it last.

 

Nah, it's been inside since I brought it home. If anything it's just old. Had a three year hiatus from the model thing. The first can I used may be close to 20yrs. old. Only used it for a base.

 

Wow ... that looks for all the world like water droplets but you're using spray bombs so that's kinda weird.

 

It looks like the inside of the can was sweating. Don't think that's possible tho. Sealed can under pressure. Paint could be picking up the moisture in the air. I'm not very good with science, so ya'll tell me.

 

I'll be honest, what I would do is dunk it in the purple pond and buy some new paint

 

That's the plan. May try that last can again just to see what happens. It was unused, just 3 plus yrs. old.

I think that paint was frozen too. Could have happened at some point in the supply chain before you picked it up. The pigment formed clumps. It never fully dried for me, stayed kinda tacky.

My bigest investment at this point is time.
I've got a couple hundred hours mining & gathering good information over the past 8 months or so...& that's on-going as the build progresses.
Then there's engineering time...figguring out how...then usually a couple of failed attempts that I log as prototyping.
Then actual build time, after I've got good crisp pictures in my brain to guide me.
Interestingly enough, the actual build time, on each of the parts, so far, has proven to be quite brief when compared to research & engineering.

 

Nothing new to post...This one was built about twenty five years ago. One of my favorite kits, AMT 53 Ford pick up. Trailer was rebuilt from a swap meet find. The Comp Coupe was built from parts box items, based on a Dragula chassis with a roll cage added. Body is an MPC that, I think came with the Milner dragster. Revell Parts Pack 283 Chevy.

Paint racks are like garages. They're never big enough.

 

Thank you for the comments...The mini man figure is an Ulrich figure from the sixties. Each figure consist of about twenty pieces, not easy to put together, but end results are good.
