New to HAMB

    Hello hot rodders!!! I'm new to this. Have 1931 ford with a 1956 corvette engine with factory WCFB CARBS. It has a hydro 4 speed automatic Trans. This was my fathers car he built back in 1956. He built it from the confines of a wheelchair. But I need a little help on the setting up of the hydro shifting linkage. Anybody know about it???? Thanks

    Welcome I don't know about the tranny but the car sounds cool. I would love to see some pictures.

    Ill get some more pics very soon of him driving the car in the 1950's. he also drag raced the car in halls Tennessee at the old WWII army air corps base.

    The scallops don't look too good and straight, I painted them real quick to see if I wanted to put them on.

    As “cool” as it sounds if you can get it to work fine but I wouldn’t spend much or any money of one of the old hydramatics. A modern trans will save a lot of weight and major problems on the road. Last time I had one worked on I had to supply a second one.
    As for linkage the hydramatic, the pressure arm/link pulls back the same as the throttle. DO NOT connect it on the bottom hole on most carbs, including the Carter WCFB, I drilled a hole about 1/2 “‘under the main large hole on the carb linkage the last time I used one. Good luck and have fun with the coupe..
