I have a 63 galaxie with a sun damaged dash pad. I read in another thread that if I rip off the dash pad it will expose a "sweet metal dash"

Are there holes that will need to be filled?

If that is the case I would need to remove and repaint the dash.

How about the speaker grill. How well would it fit to the metal dash?

    Has anyone done it?

I know some 63's came with dash pads and some with bare metal.

Its either that or order the $400 dash pad from dearborn.

  2. I don't recall how exactly the '63 dashes are trimmed, you may have a few holes to fill. You will have to repaint under the pad, and the speaker grills may be slightly different between the padded and non-padded dashes. You might be able to mod the existing grill to work.

I have a complete 63 dash it never had a pad on it. It's smooth.

  4. My 61 Sunliner dash pad was toast, the paint under it cleaned up just fine, no holes, the only thing is the speaker grill will need some finesse.
