Projects Martin/Larsen Ford '32 frame build

Howdy Fellas !
Some of you know that I have a '32 5 window project build goin on with a thread about it here on the hamb.

Along my 5 window build a friend called Larsen have helped me out even do he doesnt even know what a 32 ford is.
Anyhow for two weeks ago while we was working on my car Larsen all of a sudden says : -I want to build me a car like this, it should be fun.
I know he is extremely talent with workmanship so I just cheerd him and said.-No doubt, you have to. I help you along the way.
I took him up to the loft and behind a pile of old parts we found the frame jig and as a bonus we also found a pair of American Stamping rails .
Last monday we got it out and a new ride is on its way

 

You got some serious garage space there.

 

Awesome stuff!

 

Here is the box plates , goin trad style U-shape with press-bent holes. There is 4 different sizes on the holes as the frame is coned.

The box plates will only be dot welded.

 

The rear plate is made of 3 parts, the other two (middle and front) is bent in a brake.

 

Looks good so far. I like the boxing plate concept.

 

What luck, I think I just might have a portable '32 frame jig up in the loft, Lemme take a look.

Oh, hey, wow...I forgot about these frame rails, too. Sweet !!

Time for an update, the boxplates are done. All edges on the rails and the boxplates are grinded round to get the dual plates more visible and also to give it a more "vintage" look.

 

Front boxplate will meet up with the crossmember with a rounded corner.
This is not done yet.

 

Original holes and rivets on the rails are done.

 

To get the perfect stance the rails need a bigger cutout for the rearend. This is how we did :

 

Tig it together.

 

Here you can see the difference .

 

The new kick up is welded and grinded. Lars cut up the rail.

 

Almost done.

 

Next thing is changing the rear crossmember to a 1935-40 one. The Leaf is a monoleaf 1940 style.

Nice, work. Here lately I keep find myself thinking about building a frame table or a frame jig. I really like this one. I'm assuming you built it yourself.

 

Nice work and lots of it. This should be a super Deuce chassis.

Adapting the new rear cross member to clear the axle. We got the shape from an old cross member laying in the attic.

Old rear cross member removed and kick ups boxed. Time to get the leaf spring cross member in place
