Hey guys,i'm new to the forum...had a 55 chevy back in the early eighties and now am about to get another hardtop hopefully this week, the sale looks like a done deal, won't make the mistake of selling this one, can't wait to get it home and jump in, hope i can reach out to the forum as i try to get back on track to make this car run quickly, I do have a 66 396 for the car but thats not going in right away,,needs a rebuild, what I would like to do for now is install a 68 400 pontiac in the car to get her on the road, my question is the motor mounts...different from the small block chevy mounting in front of the blocks, are there any kits available for this swap, trans is a munice 4 speed, looking forward to meeting you guys Thanks ,Mike
welcome Mike... I am sure someone may answer your questions, but post them on the board and not in your intro.
Welcome mike, I would say it would be easier and faster just to rebuild the big block and bolt in rather than mess around making that Pontiac fit. You will not only be dealing with motor mounts and trans adaptors but everything else in the car that needs to hook up will be in the wrong location. This would be a great idea for those bogus build off shows. Have one group drop in your big block and the other group fit the pontiac and see which one finishes first. Maybe you should float this by Jimmy Shine and see what they think, You could get your car back fast and for free.
