I too like your writing style. Good luck. Let us know when it's ready for mass consumption.

That's cool. I have been kicking around ideas for the cover as well. I still haven't come up with a title I REALLY like.

Here are the top 100, right now. I like double entendre and would like to be a little risqué without being vulgar. There are a couple that I may use as chapter sub-headings. Some have possibilities, but not quite right.

  14. Just some (hopefully) constructive criticism on my end... While I understand that you want something a bit risqué and with double entendre, you also have to make sure that your book is 'findable' by someone who wants to pick it up.

    Book titles 8, 9, 10, 11, 21, 60, 61, 62, 63, 78, I wouldn't even know that they relate to the quickchange rear end.

There's a few others in there that, while humorous, I probably wouldn't pick up off the shelf with serious intent to read.

Your title should also convey that the contents of the book will be a creditable source of information, tips and tech.

    Hope that helps some.

Just exactly the type of feedback I was hoping for.

Your comments are well thought out and I agree. The Title definitely needs 'Quickchange' in it. I'm not fond of calling them Quickies, but the double entendre and risqué are certainly satisfied with that reference. I'm sure that the artwork will be just as important to convey the message of the book contents.

    Thanx,

    Bruce

Like Speedy said, paraphrasing, simple,, quickchange in the title for searching (remember the non-HAMBers) and like billboards, no more than 13 word in the art.

I like the writing style too. I have done some draft document proofreading over the years, and if you need someone to lay an extra set of eyes on what you write, let me know. Freebie for a HAMB'er. Can't promise perfection, but will try to catch what I can. For instance, this jumped right off the page at me:

Why would anyone write a book about Quick Change Axles? Have you seen one before? I haven’t either. Well then, does this mean that a book about QCs isn’t necessary? Maybe not, but when I first got started building Quick Changes 30+ years ago, the lack of information made it difficult.

Ya can't have worked on QC's for 30 years and never seen one, unless you're a hell of a good blind mechanic.:D

Have you found much information on the Halibrand two-speed QC? It might even have been called a transaxle when originally used in the 1964-1965 Halibrand Shrike Indy cars. There's a thread here http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=398845&highlight=halibrand+worth. My post, with photos of the bare housing I have, is on the first page. I see the nose on the O.P.'s (probably a Shrike transaxle) and mine are different. Scott Gullen shows his at the end of the thread, and the nose on his has yet another flange. I've found very little information on the Web.

Any updates? I'll add myself to the group that would like to have a nice informative book on quick change axles.

I think I would just keep the title simple just like the example of the "how to hot rod Chevy small blocks" no mistaking what it's about..

We were looking for a name for a kayak cart, and i offered the guys a hundred bucks for the best one...they came back with tons of suggestions, like "roll your own" etc. all I can say is the best one will jump right out at you...we chose Waterwheel. So far 18 and 19 on your list are my favorites.
