Well, I was getting discouraged cleaning the black interior of my OT car. Seemed getting the dirt out of the "grain" was being a PITA...... Well, I was looking for an option an may have found it. I sprayed my dash trim with foaming bathroom cleaner, let it sit a few moments and wiped it with a paper towel and the dirt was pretty much lifted out. Think I need to let it sit a bit longer. Trying the same on the door panels. Even though it is an OT car I was doing, I wanted to share the results. I may try it on my tires also. Cleaned with a rag, and soapy water Sprayed with foaming cleaner and wiped off
Turtle wax Ice interior cleaner does a good job also with a microfiber towel Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I use a microfiber towel and a pan of warm water with a squirt of Spray Nine. Wring out the towel and wipe, it cleans everything.
Years ago I picked up an OT Caddy with a white leather interior that was so filthy I could not drive it. No way the usual interior cleaners would work. I bought some Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner, and it worked very well. I used it on everything except the headliner, and followed it with leather treatment.
"Simple Green" is frickin' amazing. I have white vinyl that I thought would never be white again. Great for white walls.
Gotta watch out - some cleaners will attack the thread holding the seams together. Have seen it happen on a boat interior. I worked with a guy whose father had a used car lot in the 60s and he used Tide laundry detergent in warm water and a soft scrub brush to clean interiors and carpets. Took a few days in the sun to dry out but they came out good.
Better get some vinyl conditioner on there before it de-com-pos-es. v. de·com·pos·es. v.tr. 1. To separate into components or basic elements.
Good tip - I always use a black cloth and dry with a black towel to finish. Um... on the black hotrod interior that is!
I bought a can of Lysol foaming cleaner today to use on the interior of my service truck. Holy shit was I impressed with how well it works! Took the dirt out of the kick panels, out the grain in the plastic dash & door panels and off the sill plates.
