Mike!........Don't tell me you are going to paint it and cover up all your great metal work. Now everyones going to think you bought a new "United Pacific" Body.......LOL Seriously your coupe just keeps getting better and better, Since I sold my black five window. I had to fill the void, So I bought a 32 fordor body and some chucks from and old jalopy racer five window, And hopefully I can gather enough stuff to start a build thread this winter on the body.
Damn nice work. If there werent pictures of the build, it would be hard to believe it is the same body.
Cowtown Interesting you mention covering up the metal work. Although their had to come a day when the body work started, I sometimes wondered if I was slowing down on the build because I knew one day I would have to do just that cover the metal work up! Good luck on the build of your new car! Everyone else thanks for the kind words! Mike
Cactus1 I just checked out your build , nice looking truck. You do quality work ! T&A Flathead love your 5 window thread, you've had your share of work on a rust one as well.sure looks good coming out of the stripper!!
wow amazing work. alot of people would have just made a RAT ROD with what youve started with. but thankfully someone made a REAL HOT ROD with those parts. i appluad you sir. great job so far
While it dos not look like I have spent much time on the car, here's a shot of 2 additional days mudding and sanding the car.
Purchased a couple goodies off of evil bay. An early 60's air cleaner, which was rustier that decribed ! And a mid 90's camaro drive shaft that once cleaned up (as you see it, today) is ready to be shortened. I have also located u-joints to work with the Ford 9 inch 700-r4 combo Wheel pictured needs strightened... drive shaft guy says he can handle that too...
Having some trouble with one of the tires on the car. I can't get the video file to work , but the tire seems to have a severely bad belt. As the tire rotates one spot jogs to the right , quite the wobble. Thought it was a bent rim ...not so lucky. Now on the tird mounted wheel , Coker tire has been the same on each....
Few shots of progress The air cleaner is stripped, few pits but pretty clean Works outside with a pop-up and lastly transferring the bolt holes from one side of the wheel opening to another.
Issue with the right quarter, had an oil can above the patch panel . Turned into a mess and had to patch Saturday...which turned into Sunday Here's a shot of the car tonight. In Primer this weekend!! I hope!
Keep after it man!! Your getting closer and closer. Been watching and it encourages me to keep after it. I'm doing a '33 cabriolet that's been sectioned and shortened...lots of sheet metal and body work but gettin there!!! Tim
Thanks Everyone!! Ok I need some help..I purchased Black Paint but am having serious second thoughts. While the car will be relatively straight, being arrow straight maybe a bit of a reach. I am a decent bodyman but this this is a little bent everywhere!!! I have 10 full days in bondo , more than any car I have ever worked on (Note I did body work as a career for 10 years). Now some of this is old age, some just being anal , and sone the nature of the shape of this car....but what do you think of these 2 shades/colors versus Black
this is some beautiful work here ... glad to see it being saved and not rotting away somewhere .. keep up the good work =)
I'm partial to green but that red three window is killer!!! I'm likely going to use burgundy/maroon on my car.
Mike,.......Paint it black. After all that work, what's a few more hours? If you're anything like me, and you've had black in mind since you started, nothing else will do.
Mike, you have been working hard . Thats for sure. Hmmm Black again, think Ive seen it before ......but I wont blame you, Dave Gray´s coupe is a killer. Can´t wait to here your decision !!! .................................Ps, Them Green colours are nice . Cheers / Martin
Black and or Maroon are timeless colors and personal favorites. Can't really go wrong those. That green on the highboy roadster that Bruce's hotrod shop built is purdy Saw it in Austin. Pictures don't do it justice. Tough decision.
I'd love to know the color code on the green Roadster...That's a nice color. Great work...For your next project I think you ore the iron, and hammer it flat into sheets...
hi mike all i can say is wow, your build is inspiring as im about to tackle something of about the same magnitude! your boys will be telling stories about the "OL MANS" 32 for years. bringing them back from the dead, you gotta love a garage se'ance cheers justin
