We've a 1929 chevy hearse. Stock from the cowling down. . Above 30 mph the front tires would start to alternately hop and head for either/both ditchs... just had it aligned, replaced 1 degree shim w 2 degree. ..

She no longer dives for the ditch, but the front tires still alternately hop above 30mph

    Any ideas ?

Death wobble. Have shock absorbers? Are they working? What is the current caster setting?

Check the toe. If its toed out the front end will act erratic as you described.

Drive 29 MPH. What's your hurry. The cemetery will still be there and your passenger isn't complaining.

  6. If it's stock it should be parallel leaf. Tires out of balance? Out of round? No shocks?

If they are hopping that would be balance or shocks. That's if they are not out of round.........

I don't like the "correct toe" the correct toe for a 1929 original chassis is different than that of a new car. Is the shop that serviced it an antique car, hot rod, or modern shop?

Should be 1/16" but I would run 1/8" so it would track better and tire wear not being a big priority.

  12. 2* of caster doesn't sound like much either...I be your steering is really touchy
