Yesterday, I had the good fortune to attend Iski's 92nd birthday party at his home in Onyx CA on hwy. 178. It was a small event including a car show, raffle, and Bar-B-Que. It appears they focused on locals and old friends as I only heard about it thru word of mouth and believe there was only 50 cars or so. The day was a ton of fun as they allowed us to wander thru his very active machine shop, there were lots of shaded picnic tables, Beer was being offered on tap, all kinds of cool lawn art to admire, and Ed was actively signing autographs, and telling old stories throughout the day. My group of friends had fun trying to identify Ed's old hot rod friends that came out of the woodwork for his event. Car awards were a random drawing except for Ed's best of show which was won by a very rare Kurtis, owned by Arlen Kurtis. A great time was had by all and everyone is looking forward to Ed's 93rd!

I remember him from LADS, San Fernando and Colton. He was available to help anyone in Drag Racing. His research made this what it is today. He is smart, not afraid to experiment and also one who put his money where it counted. When he came out with Cam packages it did make a huge difference in engine performance. I wish hime the best but thank him form the many contributions he made to racing engine development.

I noticed Dave McClelland there...someone said on Mecum auction last night that he has trouble with Alzhiemers?

Words can't express the respect I have for Isky. I have spent my entire adult life watching race cars of every kind with his products winning races. Here is one of my favorite. Bob Osieki's Mad Dog 1V that Art Malone broke the world closed course record with at Daytona in 1961. Iskenderian Engineering built the supercharged Dodge engine in it. Happy birthday.

The 'Camfather' knew whereof he spoke, when doing gofast valve timing products. The roadster he built is a lasting testament to his Hot Rodness, and on a traditional site, you should study it like a chapter in the Good Book. I truly wish I could say it in Armenian, but at 93 years the old stogie smoker should be proud, and I were there, I'd wish him many more. A true legend without any varnish, raw as they come. Bless you Ed, you deserve what you got and I hope like hell someone is taking down your stories. Where was Too Tall? Ed, and his friends and his relationship to them, deserves a book!

I got my start in Commercial Art at the Art Studio in Culver City. We did Isky ads for all the big car magazines. Isky would show up at the studio in a beat up old Caddy convertible. The only open spot was the driver's seat. Everywhere else was occupied by something he found on the street. He was quite a character always chomping on that big cigar. Happy Birthday.
