Got the sway bar end links on today and got the front end rewired. I must be missing something somewhere because the right side headlight is dimmer then the left. I checked my grounds and they all look good. I'm getting pretty close to getting this thing on the road so I can start fixing what else I find wrong with it but I'm getting excited

Thanks guys! I put a few miles on it again today. Took it to lunch today. Tomorrow the plan is to put some new tires on it in the morning and tinker on it thru the day. I hope to drive it from the shop to my house tomorrow. Well see!

So got alot of small things done today. I got the new tires on. Well not brand new but they were free so no complaining. On my first test drive of the car I realized there was a plug missing out of the gas tank so I did a road side fix to get it back to the shop. Well it still leaked alittle so I sealed it with a plug and some jb weld. That's why I didn't drive it hope the jb weld wouldn't set up for 6 hours. I adjusted the rockers today and cm got the ticking to stop. Also got the rear bumper on. Besides buttoning up a few loose ends that's all I did today. Here some pics ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1376791530.017296.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1376791550.050603.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1376791564.050568.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1376791586.250419.jpg

Ok today's update. I had a buddy come help adjust the valves and carb and seems to be running better. But on a test ride we noticed the lower radiator hose was leaking pretty bad so I had to order a new one. So just to have something to do I welded in a cherry bomb. What's a 50's merc without a cherry bomb??? Turned out to sound better then I thought it would. Anyways I forgot to take some pics of the muffle before I welded it in to the car so excuse the crappy pics its hard to takes pics under that car.

Well the merc made it home. It got a few thumbs up on the way which is always fun. I did show a few things that need fixing, sticky wheel cylinder, possibly a thermostat tho it didn't over heat, and still need some carb adjusting. I'm thinking about scrounging up some parts and doing a exploror 8.8 rear end swap. That way I can get a better gear ratio so I can cruz better at 55-60 ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1377105457.123190.jpg

Ok update today..... Had some good and bad today. Been tring to get the brakes fixed to took off the master cylinder and cleaned it as well as all the lines. Still after all the the brakes still arnt acting right so think it's time for a master cylinder. Then we started working on the carb and distributor swap. I had to modify the adaptor the adaptor to fit my intake. Just a matter of drilling some holes then then drilling out enough so the the head of the bolt fit flush to the top of the plate. The distributor didnt cooperate as well. The think is stuck. I mean STUCK! I tried everything to get it out of there with no luck. So it's going to soak in PB blaster for a few days. If that doesn't work ill have to use some heat. The new holley 390cfm look so much better then the crappy teapot.

Finally got the damn distributor out! Took soaking in PB blaster, turning with a pipe wrench, and prying with a 7 foot long piece of square tubing. Man that thing was stuck hope to have it up and running again this weekend!!

Haha that's why I don't ever sell anything! I already have had someone want to buy the merc. One of my best friends was on that show. In the first season they bought his 50 olds, matter of fact Richard asked him about the shirt he was wearing that said "Ricks place" Rick was my dad. Don had the shirt made in Tennessee in memory or my dad. Anyways, go buy another project!!!!

Allright I got it back up and running again! Man does it run better now. Pulls itself up hills better takes off alot stronger. Motor has some pep to it now for being almost 60 years old. Had to run a different air cleaner, I plan on painting the valve covers to match. The brakes are working added a new mc they are still alittle mushy but at least they are working. Anyways ill post more when more gets done ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1379801809.240292.jpg
