I had a 1948, A buddy gave me a "stripped" 70's Dodge Motorhome to use for the chassis. It fit well, I had to replace the outside the frame steering box and move the engine back 20".

Today donor truck started to come apart...I have a ramp back tow truck in mind, and I bought the Uhaul 2 years ago....has a 454, auto.....Tomorrow sold half of the cab, so making some $$$$ to pay for other toys......

  8. Great start and even includes some nice extra parts to recoup some of the initial investment! That donor should work just fine. I used a 74 GM 1-ton for mine, but that newer 92-up version should be very similar.

Slant back will give you room to put the engine behind the cab. I have a SBC that takes up a lot of room inside the cab on mine. Have a big engine cover like a van has. Mine is a total PITA to work on, except a few things right at front of the engine.

my step-son, Tommy boy got the fuel pump changed, the truck hadn't ran in a year and a half....found out I burned a hole in the steel brake line cutting the box....slag I guess, good news, it moves under it's own power again......

What are you going to do with the box off the donor truck,I have been looking for one to make into a shed for the lawn mowers.

Might have to buy a complete truck,if I dont do a cab over I was thinking about getting one with a van front and removing the box and adding a sleeper and car hauler bed and use the box for a shed.
