I came across a vintage sign that says "peerless mfg co. Louisville ky" its very unique and i can't find any info on it. i was told it could be a road construction sign or a sign that goes in a curve. Im not the best at explaining stuff but here are some pics.
    thanks for any help.

To me the look like warning signs when you are approaching a curve in a road.

I think you headlights reflect off the sign at night. These signs are used a lot in rural area's of the country to warn of a dangerous curve ahead.

Where I live, in Australia, we have reflective road signs that blind you if you drive with hi-beam, If you drive on lo-beam, you run into kangaroos, wombats, wallabies etc. Lose/lose!

The dimensions seem too small to be a road sign.

A Peerless company used to make heavy duty radiators for Model T's, and they made a corresponding radiator shell to go along with them. The shell had a little dip under the logo on the front, where the Ford shell was flat across that edge. Maybe the same company?

Cool signs. My guess would be parking lot/garage directional sign due to the smaller size, compared to a road sign.

My thoughts exactly, but I need to see the back of it. Most likely an indoor parking garage sign.

  15. Not sure what it was meant for but if it's for sale, I'd be interested...

    Cool sign.

I think they are warning signs when your approaching a curve in a road like you said and road signs you see today when your approaching a curve are not big either they are also smaller then a stop sign. im getting more pics to up load. the 1st 2 pics are of the screw on the front the 3rd pic is of the back of the screw and the 4th pic is a pic of the back of the sign

  19. They look like Construction Signs like when they Have aRoad Block off
they Put that Type of Sign up to Direct you away from the Road

    Just my 3.5 cents

It's not a road sign. Road signs bolted to a pole and the mounting points on the back of this sign show that is not the case. This sign "hung" on a wall. Inside parking garage is the only thing I can think of. I assume the reflectors are glass, correct?

    yes they are glass.

  24. Peerless radiators & shells were made by Corcoran-Brown of Cincinnati.

Google books shows some hits on "Peerless Manufacturing" of Louisville - looks like they started out making fireplace accouterments and by the mid-30's had diversified into "reflector buttons and signs and Railroad crossings signals".

I seem to remember some Drive-Ins that had lights like that came on to direct traffic in or out.

It's not a lighted sign, it's a reflector sign. (correct me if I'm wrong...)

  28. Yes sir ree, that's a cool sign, but maybe it's supposed to point "UP". Like something ahead. Hmm?

hmmm....good point but the only thing that has me confused is that it has green and red reflector with the yellow octagon and the red arrow seems like a weird mix to me.

  30. I think the arrow points up and indicates "STOP AHEAD"
    like this one

    Just a guess
