Any theories on why the chrome is blacked out on this almost new MK II? It also looks like some sort of instrumentation has been added on the dash.

 

There is also something protruding from the driver's side grill, and no white wall up front.

 

That car is a test "mule" taken just before the 1956 introduction of the Lincoln Mark II, probably the summer of 1955. It was taken near the Ford Proving Grounds in AZ.

 

So what type of plane is this? The air intake looks like P-51, but the prop is not right. Spitfire?

Hawker Hurricane.

 

Ansel Adams was an amazing photographer, he spent many years in the Sierra's taking b & w photo's. Here he is in the Yosemite Valley and judging from his location (Mirror Lake area), he is looking at the Happy Isles area (John Muir Trailhead to the top of Vernal Falls and beyond). That is Half Dome to the right of the picture.
Back in the mid to late fifties, my father, brother and I would backpack back into the high country in the early spring and fish those high country lakes, they were filled with "hungry" Rainbow and German Brown trout.

This gentleman appears very pleased with himself - perhaps he has just taken delivery of a new Ford. RHD and the rego on the Austin parked on the street behind suggests Victoria, Aust.
The wide nature strips and gentle hills suggest northern suburbs.....?
Just guessin' though.

I have not seen Provine with long hair and other than a platinum blonde. We need a third opinion. I am sticking with a very young Fonda.

I have to agree with OKG853, although I am not 100% positive, the pic looks more like Hanoi Jane than Dorothy Provine

Looks like a model of a Ryan Navion in his hands, nice plane, basically used the same wing of a P-51 Mustang if I remember right.
