Just did some trading for a 31 Sedan a couple of weeks ago. When I got it home it developed a fuel delivery problem so I hadn't driven it yet. I took all the fuel lines and glass bowl off one at a time and cleaned everything and found that the shutoff valve was clogged. got it all back together and it fired right up and ran great. I drove it 3 of 4 miles and went to a gas station and filled it up, probably drove it a little further than I should have with no license plate But the trip was flawless and no run ins with the law either. then backed it back into the garage. Thinking about driving it to the HAMB Drags
the best piece of reliabilty advise, is you must go order/get one of the aftermarket fuel inlet brass screen insert thing. It is about the size of a short non filter cigarette, and it's machined base is a taper squeeze fit into the tank vavle after you remove the valve. Then it slides right up in the tank as you put the valve back in place. It works great if there are any signs of rust or flakes in the tank. Worth it's weight in gold IMO , for the exact problem you had; plugging valve, or that line to the bowl. maybe $6 or so I think
Great ride - as you know after a short ride there is limited power and less stopping power. so, do as much as possible to make it safe for the open road and have fun.
That thing rocks! Enjoy it, they are fun as hell. My advice, make sure your gas cap is still venting.
Real cool - that thing will give you miles of smiles as it is! Ditto on the fuel tank screen - got mine from Mac's - cheap fix.
Thanks guys! Other than putting the vinyl on the top and finishing up the interior there is not much I have planned except driving it.
Very cool. You know, I HATE those stock Model A wheels on full fenderd cars...............but once the fenders are removed they look perfect. What did you trade for it?
Man that's a killer car. I saw this in another thread a week or so ago and it made me change my build for my T. Killer.
Your garage looks a little crowded...why don't you bring it up here for me to store for you...I've got plenty of room. and don't forget the keys.
