    Wondering if any other finish line indicator signs exist out there? the Kendall motor oil picture that I have posted is one of the two that I have restored from the abandoned Niagara Drag strip in Niagara Falls, NY. I have also posted a pic from two lane black top of the DX indicator sign from Lakeland Dragstrip in Lakeland, Tennessee. I remember watching old 8mm footage of indy and I think I saw Pure signs. I also remember seeing photo's of a dragster hitting a MARATHON sign. Anybody Recall any of this Dragstrip memorabilia?

    Orange county (Calif) had "Perfect Circle" that looked like a devider (ask your dad) with lights pointing to the winners side.

    @dreracecar,
    I'm 74 and my Dad passed away 26 years ago. I'm not sure what 'devider' is.
    Thought maybe it was the slanted bar in the middle of a fraction?

    Google says that is a Vinculum if its horizontal or a solidus if on an angle.
    Can you elaborate?

    maybe he meant "divider", the drafting tool? but since the post you're referring to is from 2013, seems you're a bit late asking.

    Colton had a guy (or two) sitting in a car down at the finish line sorta facing the starter. In a close finish, they'd either open the left or right door to indicate the winner (or maybe a friend).

    Portland International Raceway, had Coca Cola signs that lit up at the finish line, for the winning lane. McMinnville had a guy in a high perch that tilted a white flag to the winning lane, the other car got it's white shoe polish number, smeared on the return road.

    I got smeared more than I got trophies! I did win my first and last drag races at the strip though. My son ran the length of the quarter mile when I won the last one. I gave him a ride back. Good times!

    Before computers, in mechanical drawing, the tool used in order to lay out a circle, a draftsman would use a compass/divider to draw a PERFECT CIRCLE[IMG]
