What goes on at these classes? I would like to take some classes but I do not have lots of high dollar tools or do I care to. Most classes that I see people are using English wheels And other large tools.

Gene will show you how to get good results, with basic stuff. He will cover more advanced things, but he is a master of traditional, low buck methods. His focus is on teaching "regular" guys, who don't have multimillion dollar tool setups.

Don't forget this takes place in a shop with all the tools available. It is such an amazing opportunity to witness such skills and to work along side and ask questions. Don't miss this people. It's like getting piano lessons from Mozart

Thanks for letting us know. Too far for me, shame, would love to attend something like this...

Oh, and can someone tell me what specifically it is about this thread that merited a 1-star rating from someone?!

I have been forming metal and welding for about 35-years. I took the class up here, at Gambino's, both days, and even I learned a ton of stuff. I even learned that all of the "New England backwoods" methods that my beloved Grandfather taught me, that I have always felt a little provincial using in front of others, are actually the correct, valid methods.

Gene is an awesome man, and remember, he won't be with us forever. If you ask, he will show you. He puts it all on the table. I don't know where you can get a better, more well-rounded education than this, in just two days. Even just 1-day would be worth it. You will be amazed at way YOU are capable of doing, with a little guidance.

  12. Yep everything gimpyshotrods said X2!! Best money I've spent ever. You'll have a great time and learn no matter what your skill level is. History lesson along with more tips and information than you can absorb. Gene's a rockstar! After I went I spent the next two months collecting scrap & building more tools. Been banging on metal to the point of obsession since then!

Tinbender is right. Learn from the best. There must be others in San Diego wanting to attend?

It would be worth price of attendance just to shake Gene's hand !
You will be surprised at the grip from a legend pounding metal for what, 65 years maybe?

I flew down to Austin, TX a couple of years ago for a workshop with Gene, now he will be coming to a local shop and I will be out of town that weekend. Gene is a great guy and even a better teacher...here is a pic from the Mercury Charlie's workshop:

I went over to the shop this afternoon just to check it out...kinda hidden in the back of the complex but it was worth the search. Lots of nice builds going on so even if you miss the workshop it would be worth it to visit the shop.
