I am about to replace the front control arm bushings on my project and wanted to know if it is advised to grease the sleeve inside the bushing? If so, what kind of grease, axle, white lithium, etc? Thanks in advance.

  2. What kind of bushings? (the material they are made of)

If it is a rubber bodied bushing no grease is needed ,a thin film of oil to aid assembly is all that is needed. Metal to metal use regular chassis grease.

These are rubber bushings with a metal sleeve insert.

  7. No oil or grease.

Petroleum tends to emulsify or "break down" the rubber over time. So keep it clean and dry.

If you are installing new bushings in stamped control arms, a very light application of anti-seize will help installation.

The grease would be on the inside of the metal sleeve where the pivot rod goes through; basically metal on metal.

There is no pivot action there so no grease is needed. If you look closer at the inner sleeve you will see saw tooth type ends, these bite into the pocket where the bushing install's. Want does pivot, so to speak, is the rubber twist's. This is why you should leave all bushing bolts semi loose and put the vehicle back on the ground on it's tire's so A-Frames are at ride position. Then you tighten your bushing bolt's.
