That is not a 6-71 blower. Looks like a 53 series. I believe Dyers might still sell the manifolds to use those.
It sounds to me like those planes are flying north full and going back empty. Have you talked to the pilots or ???? about an under the table deal?
Question for the OP, what did you take it off from? was it down on the side of an inline 6? Was it in the valley of a V6 or a V8? It isn't a 53 series blower because it has helical rotors, 53 series were straight. My guess is 6-71 in an International. Oh yeah, about the tetanus! You get tetanus from horse manure! Horses are a carrier of the tetanus virus and it you cut or puncture skin with something that has virus containing horse manure on it, you can get tetanus.

That looks like a 6-71 to me, you were worried about the bears, damn, you should have been worried about the owner of the truck!!! Truck dosent look that bad to be "liberating" parts from.
Wasn't too hard to guess, normally Detroits are light green IH demanded theirs be red, flange mount means an inline engine, blower is too big to be a 4 cylinder version. Shit that's frame rail you wanted it bad! what did you saw it with?

That's some interesting info Steve.This was my first foray into scouting old trucks for blowers,so I'm pretty green on the subject. And the vertical cuts I made with a sawzall....and used up half a dozen blades!lol!Whatever steel they used in that frame,it was High quality stuff! The remaining horizontal cut was made with a zip wheel on a grinder by my buddy Pete who runs a welding rig up there.He saved my bacon by getting that chunk out of the way. As that one sits its 350 and 1100, not much power for a lot of torque, but those old blowers Rob a lot of power... As far as Rpms I don't know, with the exhaust as seen in picture it sounds like 10 grand. But in reality it's probably around 3 Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!

I used to work on lots of old detroits they were the coolest of them all. Loved the sound of a detroit with a roadranger 13 speed behind it, full on power shift no clutch needed. can't beat it. that case looks like a 6-71 could be a 6-53 but not likley could be a 6-92 though. the 53/71/and 92 denotes the size of the injectors that were in the 6- or 6 cyl engine. had an 8v-92 whith twin turbos on it talk about a wet dream it was used for pulling triples over Donnor pass out west. the drivers loved it. use the case and dont worry to much about it all the boost will be determined by the size of the pully you put on it, you can under drive it or over drive it by just changing the pully. had a buddy that ran one on his torino (Danny Grief rip) he put the idler pully on the rib side of the belt and got the belt whine everyone likes to hear. There is a 3v-53? in the old all steel building in Montgomery Il that was used to run the fire system. when they updated the system they said I could have it but the fire marshall woulden't let me shut the system down long enough to pull one pipe out to get it out, sadly it is still sitting there only had about 75 hours on it.

Baaaahahahaaaaaa.....!!!!!! Ya got me there Bib! It would have driven up the winter road about 30 yrs ago,just like on Ice Road Truckers,but without the artificially manufactured drama the add for the tv show. Looks like a 6-71 to me. I used to drive trucks and looked through old semi salvage yards and old abandoned trucks for years for one of those with no luck. Killer score! Congrats!
