I am trying to get my truck ready for the Sept. Ohio mile meet and would like some advise for tire use. I have a set of 15x5 rims and planned on using front runners for both the front and drive tires.I built my truck for street purpose originally using forty ford 16 x4 wheels and just got into LSR and am limited to wheels do to back spacing of 2 1/2 inches.

If I use front runners is one brand better than the other M/T, Goodyear, M&H? I also need to run 28" or 29" tires in the rear due to ride height.

I think that V or Z rated would be better on the rear for Willmington Pavement. However they won't fit on that narrow a rim.Firestone makes a V rated Police tire in 16".

I have beed looking for a z rated radial but have come up empty. I could also get
    16 x 6 wheel with a 2 1/2 back spacing

Try contacting Tire Rack in South Bend
    Indiana (www.tirerack.com). I'll bet they
can come up with some appropriately
sized Z-speed-rated rubber for you. If
they have something in stock for you,
maybe ask them about having them
    shaved as well

Lots of Bonneville cars use Goodyear front runners. Not so many the others. Goodyear also makes a front runner for land speed trials with a stiffer side wall and more plies.

First, I hope you have a ECTA rule book. They have a good guide about what speed rating tires you will need. I would call ECTA tech for advise before spending a dime on tires you might not be able to use.

I have read the rule book and can't find narrow z rated tires and front runners are rated to aleast 200pmh.

  11. Many folks prefer the M&H fronts for the stability. I am running those in front and Goodyear front runners in the rear. If you need help, I sell them as well.

Not all front runners are rated to 200MPH. I take it that your truck has full fenders? Hope you have about 650 @ the wheels to hit 200. Have Fun Go Fast and be Safe.
