This is a custom pedal car my friend and I have been working on for his son. We are making a push car out of it. We built a frame and put a full floor with rear tubs for the tires. It will end up black with red leather interior and red wheels. What do you guys think???
bad azz. I am building one very simular for my nephew, but it will sitll be a pedal car with steering
Great job! BUT... I wish you guys would cut this kiddie-kar thing out! I've got 5 or so of those in the attic that I never did for the kids and now I have 3 grandkids, 20 months, 5 months and 11 weeks. If my kids ever see this stuff I'll be forced to do something with the kiddie-kars, won't I? What are they? A 34 Plymouth roadster, a 41 Chrysler convertible, Pat Buttram's "Nellybelle" Jeep from the Roy Rogers shows, 1 49-52 Chevy which was a firetruck but is now a convertible car, and a weird 3wheel thing with R & L lever steering, a GM pontiac-looking front end and a Ford Tbird-looking rearend. There may be one more up there but if there is I can't remember what it is. I wonder if you couldn't make one up that is a Push-Kar until the little Munchkins get bigger and then converts back to a pedal-powered Kiddie-Kar? Maybe by using a single central pivoting front wheel and retaining the steering mechanism and outer "real" wheels and simply removing and storing the pedals and shafts until conversion age?
You can spen a lot of time on something simple like this before you know it, but its pretty cool. I built a lowered Radio-Flyer almost 10 years ago for swap meets, and spent way too much time on it, and was just tring to make something that would work, but it sure has came in handy, and looking pretty beat now. I would recomend that if you are going to have any weight in it, run the axles all the way a cross.
Several years ago we bought 20 pedal car kits from Speedy Bill and passed them out to artists and car guys to build for a charity auction. This was way before the Deuces that were built for the Pebble Beach auction. Jimmy Shine built one and SoCal built one signed by Alex and Pete. Twenty cars went for $15,000 in less than an hour.
Nice! My mother-in-law is the queen of thrift stores and estate sales and gave my 15 month old son a vintage pedal car very similar to this for Christmas. It is not in my garage awaiting a repaint! Thanks for the inspiration!
That's a great idea! My club could do something like that to raise money for our scholarship fund. But back to the original post, that things is looking bad ass! Keep posting those pics.
they are chrome, they came with the speedway kit i bought. you can get them through speedway separate
Here's on for ya! Not really a pedal car though...No pedals.......Equipment includes.....Horn, headlights, radio, bluedot '32 tail lights, steelies, wide whites, dual exhaust with propane flamethrowers!
Killer pedal cars. I just got a plastic '36 Ford for my boy, from my Dad. I'm going to put in a floor to cover the pedals until he is old enough to drive it.
