When you think of a budget is actual expenses, how does one add up the research time, finding parts, asking others questions, sometimes that doesn't get taken into account.

I'm actually trying to keep records of all expenses but setting no limits on my other half. I want the car to be perfect and perfection comes with a price. ;)

Been saying this for years. Always surprises and most of the time not good ones:mad:

  4. Maybe a better question would have been which runs out first, the non-existing budget or interest in the project?

I have seen way too many abandoned project vehicles, where the owner ran out of "ineterest" long before the accumulating cost was an issue.

Nothing sadder than seeing a guy sell his dream car and boxes of unopened parts for pennies on the dollar, just because he's just sick of seeing the thing rotting in his backyard.:(

I used to budget my builds, usually came in around my budget money wise, but never time wise. Some cars, if you put a dollar rate to your work, you'd never sell it for the money you got in it. My current car has big hours and low dollars attached to it, you gotta do it for the fun of it, its a hobby.
