  1. Guess I don't care too much about picture quality......

Does anyone have any more pictures of this car anywhere? I would love to see it all closed up and without the man standing next to it. Thanks.

Please forgive my ignorance, as I can be somewhat uneducated and illiterate, Sorry to offend. I thought the car was familiar but couldn't put my finger on it to google it. I thank you for the informationLarryT, as I had searched and didn't know about the Dobie Gillis car. Sorry to interrupt.

I'm not offended, but I was in a rather spirited discussion about the car at one time. :) The car (and the man in the picture, George Barris) are pretty famous/infamous. Lots of information on this site and on the web about both of them. I hope you enjoy your search for more information, it can be a lot of fun!
You can Google Chrisman coupe for more pictures of the car in a different form (race car instead of showcar).

The 15 oz coupe before it was the 15 oz coupe, here #96, baby blue, injected Chrysler, not sure who the driver was that day (think this is Colton), but one over from him is Lyle Webster, Les Hawkins, not sure who the guy holding the trophy is, this was early 60's

Cars back then might not have been exactly safe. They may have been crudely built at times. But my gawd they all seem to be so bitchen.

    Australia.
My brother (Hot-rod dude) shot this on a round trip with vintage Chevy pals to Birdsville (outback). This is from the driver's seat (RHD). He drove solo.
Hope he's cool with me posting it.

  18. I always liked that one. I think it's from Petersen archives. Reminds me of the Old Tea Tree Gully bakery we would hang at on the way home from school around '69-72. Very similar.

  19. Gotta feeling that's an Andy Southard pic from mid/late fifties, see 'Hot rods of the Fifties' book by him. But I may be wrong- maybe it's from Robert Genat's 'Birth of Hot Rodding' book.

There are so many great shots in this thread.

I love the simple determination of this one though...

I'll Play. Jerry Kugel headed East on what may have been the nicest day I have ever seen at El Mirage July 1968.

This was the image I used to sketch out my first hot rod drawing way back in the early 60s. I was in the 5th grade. Makes me smile remembering the big stack of HR mags I was given as a kid.
    Thanks for sharing it.
