Projects Final chapter in the crummy chop

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Thommyknocker, Aug 20, 2009.

  1. Dug into it a bit more

I would have thought a broken rocker would have made her run a lot worse than it does
    Lol

  4. Weird. I cant find that missing push rod. The guy I got the car from must have not put one in lol. That rocker flopped over and broke the next one.
What makes me mad is I missed that. Oh well, I'll order a few pushrods and a rocker set and give it another go

  11. Lol your about 3 years too late

  12. Doing my shake down runs now.

I've got a few things I need to work on:

When it's hot she doesn't like to turn over. I've put a new starter on it and made a heat shield.
I'll try a ford relay next.

The coolant fan stopped working this morning.
I'll have to rewire that and probably use the Ford relays this time. The regular 50 amp cube one felt really hot.

  29. WEEEEEE!
    Had fun pimping her around.
It's winter time, so I'll work on a few problems.

The front end needs rebuilt, the center link is shot and the ball joints have never been replaced lol.
Unfortunately it's a 2nd gen Firebird subframe. I really don't want to pay $200 for the center link, so I'll convert it over to $50 Camaro parts. :D

I miss-measured for the front shocks, and I ruined one already.
Probably because the tires rub them sideways.

Is there any reason I can't put the shocks on the upper control arm?
I could build a bridge from the frame over the top for the upper mount, like the 4X4 guys.

And lastly, the headers that came with it are cooking the starter, so I found some stock manifolds, and I need to raise the mufflers up cause I drag them coming out of the garage lol

Not sure about shocks but the spring rests on the lower because that is the stronger arm from the factory by design. The uppers are not as strong but I don't see why they wouldn't be strong enough for the shocks. Maybe others have a different take.
