Anybody going to Colonial Beach for the ''60 Years of Cars and Stars'' The event used to be held in Manassas at Old Dominion Dragway.
Thinking that's the 4th of August if I'm not mistaken. Haven't heard much "buzz" about it so maybe some exposure on here will help get the word out to the folks in the Mid-Atlantic area.
The S&S Racing Team and friends will be there.....The event promises to be as much fun as it was at ODS.....
I was at the Colonila Beach drags way back in 1979. I go back to the town of Colonila Beach every August for a car show but I had not heard about this event at the dragstrip.
Awesome shot of the '40, Andy. The 34th annual Rod Run to the Beach is August 17 & 18 this year and the Nostalgia Drags are in fact the 4th of August. I just checked the Colonial Beach Dragway website.
Thanks Donnie for the date that I failed to put in. I was there several week's ago as was Gary Gore handing out flyer's at the track. Hope the weather is good. Were coming down on Sat. Going to go eat some seafood....JT
Thanks Don, it's an oldie. I had already planned on going to the run at the beach next month but I can't make the race. Maybe next year. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
I'll be there.... Here's some shots from last year's show at the now closed Old Dominion Speedway: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=35492 Info here: http://www.colonialbeachdragstrip.com/
.....It's tough to judge how good (or big) the car show will be as it's the first time (as far as I know) that it will be held at Colonial Beach. It was previously held at the now defunct Old Dominion Speedway complex as indicated in the earlier post. Colonial Beach, Va. is located on the Potomac River just a few miles South of the Harry Nice Bridge and minutes from US Rt.301. Hope that helps.
Beautiful day, great turn-out both for the show as well as the competitors. Large crowd of spectators there to watch.
In the first pic, if you look just to the right of the guy staging the cars, at his eye level, I'm the first person you'll see. Baseball style cap, white shirt and sunglasses, I've got my arms resting on top of the fence. I just say this because someone will surely say, "You weren't there". Great pics guys. Thanks for posting them.
Great day for a lot of old farts living the dream. Weather was super, drags were really cool, show cars had a great variety. Mama enjoyed the days ride, Gods in his Haven and all is right with the world. Missed those that could not make it.....
