Is it normal for there to be pop up searches on the left side of the computer when on the H.A.M.B. It never user to be there. It seem like it started 2 days ago. If anyone knows how to get rid of this I thank you. I have always liked this site because there were no pop ups.

No, you should not have pop ups at all. Can you take a screen grab and send it to me?

Got it fixed. It was on my end, asked a computer friend about it an all is good now.

  14. Can you clue us in as to what the cure was? Did you run some anti-spyware software to clean up your system? Remove a newly installed search toolbar? This kind of info can be helpful to know down the road. :D

You might want to check your computer and what browser you are using to see if you have "do not allow Pop Ups" checked off but more than likely you got into a site that loaded Spyware / Malware into your computer.

I've been on the HAMB for 12 years and not once have I ever had a Pop Up from the HAMB.

Im using IE, pop up blockers on. Just wiped everything temp folders with CCleaner. and ran malwarebytes. nothing. then came back here, both kinds of pop up still here.
Im not too worried about it as its not doing it anywhere else, I was just point out the fact, so maybe if more people do we can track the source.

ok I went into ie-options -privacy - sites and blocked www.bizcoaching.info & www.buildathome.info for the first one.

second one seems to be something called text enhance. theres an uninstall guide there.

    http://text-enhance.com/uninstall.php

EDIT that doesn't work as its not installed to uninstall. dunno now, im at a loss for the second one.

EDIT: seems a program had installed something called "safe saver" a browser addon.
uninstalled same way, restarted browser, issue seems to have gone.

maybe this will help someone else in future

I just altered our security guy. He's gonna go take a look.

  21. Good Lord! That sounds a bit harsh. But I guess you gotta do what you gotta do!

  22. Well now I'm getting just a plain white page when I try to open the Jalopy Journal homepage. No warning window, no 404, no pop-ups. Logging on to the HAMB is no problem though, obviously. Maybe some maintenance going on in the back room... or someone's being further "altered". :D

WinXP with either IE8 or Firefox.

    From the security guy:

  27. Thanks for the update and letting us know what tends to cause these issues in the first place. It's way to easy to get sucked in to some of these toolbar and freeware downloads. :D
