How about it...anyone running dual-quad or tri-power on a 283? Details on your set-up and engine spec's appreciated. Please don't suggest more cubes or late-model heads.
Mine is a .030" overbore, 283, PP heads (520 castings), 10:1 CR, Comp 280 cam. I'm running three Stromberg 48's. No progressive linkage. There is a "283 build" album on my profile page. It goes okay in a light, stick car.
Mine: '66 283 block thats been punched to 4" 327 steel crank TRW forged flat top pistons L2165F (supposed to be 9.6-1 comp at 66cc) 3782461 camel humps (1.94 int / 1.5 exh) 62cc Cam is 278/288 - .420/.433 - 107/117 Edelbrock 3x2 intake New Genuine Stromberg 97s Non-progressive In my 31 coupe very fun...
4" bore and 327 crank...cheater. Sounds like a fun combo, though. What trans are you running? Rear gear?
My old 283 had a 300 horse 327 cam, headers, and tri power. The small base rochesters were on a fenton intake with number 55 jets in the center and 56 jets in the secondarys . the linkage was progressive and it ran very well and got good gas mileage.
I just finished setting up a tri-power on my buddies 283 in his Model a Coupester. He's running Edelbrock Manifold and Rochester carbs. Makes really good power and is ran on a progressive linkage. To much carboration on straight linkage. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
get a used Lakewood bell and drill some holes in it. Then you can use the 168 tooth flywheel if you wanted to as well. Note that Ford, AMC and Chevy all use different sized bearing retainers, so if using a T5 with the Jeep bell, you would want to get a Jeep T5 bearing retainer.
