guys i know nothing about rearends but i was wondering if a jones or franklin quick change rearends will hold up to a 6.0 chevy with a turbo in a 52 cadillac. i really like the looks is the reason. not that i am going to change any gears or what ever.

  2. late model stock cars proabbly have 600 to 700 hp by now and they never break, but rember that is the big quickchange

the little one designed on 40 ford axles and bells proabbly will only handle a flathead much smaller and weaker

They seemed to handle 750HP in a 3400 # car for a few seasons, fairly good...That would be the large bell...I believe they had a 10" or 10.25 " ring gear....it's been a few years..

Without a jack you couldnt even see a quick change rear in a 52 Caddy could you? But to answer your question, a modern champ rear probably would.

i have a franklin champ rear in my 34 w/boss 429 eng., been in 22 years no problems.

  6. It's not the HP that kills them, it's weight. My supermodified has 900hp and 750 lb ft of torque, but it only weighs 2100lb. The quickchange will handle it fine. 500hp in a 4000lb sled will snap one like a twig if you can hook it up...

The turbocharger may be your saving grace, as the usual burnouts and clutch drops won't build a ton of boost.

One of the super rare "Franklin" quickchanges made it St. Paul in the 40's? You better get it out from behind that 429 before you blow it up with that engine. It's too rare to risk that way (even though it's a "Champ Rear").

depending on what rearend you have now can buy aftermarket rear covers that sort of look like a quickchange. ever priced a quickchange, for something most people will never see? search online for South 40 Streetrods that manufactures the traditional style Rodsville V8 Quickchange.

Correct. "Franklin" echoes me back to the Twilight Zone episode where a slot machine stalks some poor slob, calling out "Franklin"!

Yes it's Frankland, but there was also a Franklin or Franklyn in the Speedway catalog back in the 80's.

Seems to me you could put about anything under a '52 caddy and nobody will know it is there.
