I've been reading a lot about Alex Xydias lately (what a story) and have been curious about his 1934 Ford Cabriolet called Jewel. There's agreat write up about it at kustomrama.com HERE. I've attached the pictures I know of.

I'm especially curious about the interior. "The dashboard housed Buick instruments and was solid brass that had been scrolled and lacquered." "According to Dean Batchelor, Alex's Ford was also fit a fully chromed 1940 Ford steering wheel."

Does anyone have additional photos. Any shots of the interior would be great. Even better, does anyone know if Jewel is still around?

    I'm loving that front bumper.

Before you mentioned this, I had completely forgotten about this car, guess it got less attention that did Alex's more famous race cars, but good question: where might it be if it survived.

Rik Hoving? It is a custom, after all...

1940 Olds. Popular on customs in the '40s and early '50s.

Hard to find nowadays. I've only had one in my lifetime, and can't remember seeing any others for sale at swaps or auctions.

That cabriolet is awesome! Nobody would EVER do those mods to one now.

I'm looking for some footage of Alex Xydias driving / racing / working on his cars at the So-Cal Speedshop. Do you know of anywhere this might exist or anyone who might have this?

    Thanks so much!
