Happened right in front of me was about to jump the fence to help out but didn't wanna step on anyone's toes. Happy to hear he's okay. Any one know what happened did he pass out from heat stroke? Or just loose control and get knocked out?

Just got home and I had a blast. It was a great turn out. Ran into a few old friends, met a few new friends and got to make a few passes to boot. My best pass was 12.22 at 112MPH (on my skinny bias plies) I was pleased with that. Drove it 200 miles there, ran it hard, drove it 200 miles back home.

Glad to hear that FED driver is OK that was SCARY looking. I think the only thing anybody could have done in that situation was pop an extinguisher down the injector and even that would have been risky. Even if it had a master kill switch you couldn't have seen it for all the smoke and I don't know if it would be wise to get close enough with that thing at full throttle, tires slinging @ 150MPH plus. If one of those tires would have come apart and you were standing there I suspect the outcome would be BAD. Just glad it didn't last any longer than it did. It sure seemed like a good minute or more. I was cringing just waiting for that motor to come apart in a big way but it never did. Nick it was great seeing you and everybody else I talked with today. I wished I could have stayed but have a family commitment so had to leave already. What a great event, I'll be back for sure!

It was a freak accident for sure, there was so much smoke from the tires you couldn't even see the car. I am surprised he does not have some type of respiratory injury from all the smoke inhalation. There was a lot of speculation going on at the time about what caused it. I wouldn't be surprised either if it was heat related. It was pretty bad for me just sitting in the lanes, but strapped in with a fire suit and all that for any length of time would have been brutal.

BTW Steve the Poncho is looking sweet!

We hit up the Root Beer stand and met up with Kamp. I tell you what...his channeled 'A' next to Paul's under the lights was pretty killer. Those are all on my Nikon...so here's a shot of Paul's car at the gas station.

I just saw the video of the mishap w/ the digger.......I did not know it was running Nitro...yikes......It seemed like forever until the one guy ran down to the back of the car, then ran away, maybe he was looking for a master kill and did not see one?.....The engine and tires are going full bore for a long time....very scary indeed...........glad their was no huge fire !

I'm glad you guys had a good time out here, and I'm glad you plan on coming back. This was a good year and I'm glad I got to meet all the H.A.M.B.er's. It's all the people who make it out and tell there friends what they missed that helps get people here. The pictures no matter how good don't do any justice to the event.
    Thanks again for covering this.

bugsy, that's just another example of the superior engineering and styling of pontiac. the heater controls (on the left) mimic the radio controls. classy!
