    Hi,

My plan is to build old way,
race it here and there, when its nostalgic racing, when your allowed to race old stuff. for example the swedish hotrod reunion and so on.

    We see whats happening... ;)

Now we have a "clean spot" to make my dragster corner.
And use a hydralic table to have a nice place at work on.[IMG]

Good luck on your build, should be a great car when you are finished.

I ran a TE-440 (see avatar) with a sort-of-flathead (well, an Ardun), so this brings back lots of memories. Scotty Fenn was indeed a character, with lots of novel ideas (not all worked, like the Ted Cyr sidewinder), but he build a chassis that even poor guys could afford, built them out of exhaust tubing (he called it "muffler moly") and they were well built. I replaced the rubber buscuit front suspension with a CAE sprung axle, but that was about it, put 70 runs on the car. Wish I still had it, but the local drag strips did not like the thin-wall roll bar tubing (.65) so went to something stronger.

I can understand that you want to build an old style dragster, the sure look cool, but I would still recommend that you something you can run at your local track. The HRR is one thing, but at any other track that I know of would not allow the old style hoops without modifying it.
Legal drag racing in Sweden must be sanctioned by SBF or SMA.
As said, check out SVDA for more information, and please feel free to contact any of the mentioned people there.
Take it to consideration that SSAB now makes a new tube that you might be able to use.
I don't know what type of engine and HP you plan, but I personally would not pour a lot of money into a project that could not be used other than on HRR.
    Just my 2 cents;)

As you know, there are several racers in SVDA living in Skåne:)

There is some realy great stories to read!
So what happened with that old dragster?

REALLY AWSOME!!! I am dreaming every day, when you sit there at the startpoint, have the engine at 6000rpm, and just let it loose, tires screaming into your ears and the exhaustpipes smokes and blow out big time!
Why is that? big badass engine?
    Really, I mean REALLY cool!!
Thanks for those clips and pics, I need all that good stuff!

Old Indy Mag wheels, with awsome cool tires!
Yeah, those tires are old and needs to b replaced before taking the dragster on the track, but might fit in some show/meetings ;)
(why cant they reproduce these tires?)

Ill do my best, and hope it will be great!

  20. The learning curve is steep. I had my Dragmaster out on the track again last night and am addressing the issues found. Hope to be ready to make a real pass or two the HAMB drags.

Can you please post some pics?

    Last night? ;)

  22. Drove the 4 hours down to MoKan for last night's "fun runs". Finally resolved an issue with the shifter cable adjustment. Still having trouble throwing blower belts. Going to replace my homemade idler pulley with a store bought one. Then there is the issue of her puking oil. I'm afraid I have a hurt cylinder. I'll know later tonight when I do a leakdown. :-/

Here are a couple of pictures from last years HAMB drags.

Kerry, by looking at the pics you are running a breather in front on the VC. My opinion is that is the worst place (second only to on the back) for it. Early Chry. heads are very very bad at oil return and when you decelerate and hit the Chutes a good quart and a half is still in the heads slaming forward and out the breathers. Get another set of covers and install either 2 breathers on top each side or a burndown breather on top and run a hose to a puke tank.

  26. New valve covers aren't in the budget but I am going to have a different configuration on the breathers for the HAMB drags. I like the look of the breathers but the puke tank makes more sense. Still waffling on that decision, or at least how to implement it. I did find a cylinder that had a lot more leakdown than it should have. Read about it here.

Sorry about the breathing problem and a weak cylinder....
    Coooool dragster!!

We blew up one engine in the dyno at work, we pushed all oil thrue the vent hole in 2 seconds and the rods went thrue oil pan, engine block...it was a mess.

We hope that not happens to you!

Good luck and thanks for posting pics
