Help.... truck runs for awhile...then dies

  1. Manual choke..new rubber line from main line to fuel pump, about 18 inches with a plastic inline fuel filter, put in properly, metal line from pump to carb, stock mechanical fuel pump, new filter in it.

    I had a similar problem with my 57 Chevy p/u. Stock gas tank. Stock location. It would bog down under acceleration and act like it was running out of gas. tried al the same stuff you did and found out that the fitting attached to the pipe and sending note was loose. Its welded on and one of the spots broke loose. I cut off the fitting and replaced it with a piece of rubber hose and clamps at each end and its been working fine ever since.

    Boiling gas maybe, is the fuel line near the exhaust? I threw some heat sheathing over my fuel line just in case. When I was troubleshooting my issue someone told me to try that as well.

    My Falcon would do the same thing. Turned out to be the starter solenoid. We had it idling and tapped around with a rubber mallet on suspects til we found it.
