Did you used to go by Skrapmetal on here? My wife and I agree that this will be the the inspiration for our shoebox. The chop and color combo are spot on. Can you tell us what the color is.
Here's my '50. My dad's dream was to finish the car the way it would have been when he was in high school. He graduated from San Diego's Hoover High in '62. He always had shoeboxes in high school. He passed in December 2011, and I will finish putting this car together the way he wanted. He bought it almost 20 years ago with just 56,000 on the odometer. Flathead done, OD trans located and rebuilt, lots of parts sitting on the shelf ready to go! I'll throw in a few shots of one of my dad's high school shoeboxes for fun. She's all taken apart in the garage right now, getting ready to head to the sand blaster and then its rust repair central
We have had more calls from Guys and Dolls working on '49-'51 Fords in the past six months than any other car. The Shoebox Ford is fast becoming the Kustom of Choice.
LMAO, thanks I think. My wife did say thank you Mike, and she's definitely a car gal! I have other pics of his cars but these are the only Shoebox pics we've found. I posted those other pics about a year ago on the thread "pics of your fathers cars" or something like that. Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Not mine, but too cool not to post. Hot Rod Deluxe, I think. Current issue. Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Here's what my car looked like in the fall of '12 . I haven't seen it in the last few months , since it's been tucked away in the barn , but I don't think it's changed much . Eventually I'll get back on it .
That's very interesting. Is it a one-off conversion, or were many of these made? Were they done in NZ?
Converted as a brand new vehicle , Still had all it's rollers etc in the rear . Possibly the only survivor in the country , there were supposedly 3 converted for different Funeral Homes at the same time . .
heres mine, still under construction, still gotta customize the tail lights also i ditched the stock front bumper and put a 56 plymouth bumper on (not in pics)
Here's mine. Repairing the floor, mustang gas tank, triangulated 4 link w/bags and new interior. It still has Original flathead and 3 speed. I installed a maverick 8" rear after the stock rear broke. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
It's in the classifieds now but I'm on the fence about building the vert. with the 4 door donor. Down low, skirts...etc.
love those shoeboxes for the special shape of the body was the roof on the pic optional or is it your work?
