Where did you mount your battery?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Jul 16, 2013.

  1. That was the question I was ask in a PM about my Deuce pickup and I replied it's in the trunk in the bed of my truck.

I am trying to replace the photobucket images if I have them on my PC.

The Deuce sedan is mounted under the floor with access in the rear floorboard.

In the "Ranch Wagon" it's mounted in the original location.

So where did you mount your battery? HRP

In my 36 ford pickup, its behind the rear pumpkin, my gas tank is in the box covered over with a box built to resemble a boom box, complete with speaker grilles.

  5. On the firewall where its accessible easily. I like function over fashion.

  6. Not the coupe? right? HRP

    Hot Rod Primer,
Would you please post a few photos of that great looking "trunk" in the back of your pick-up? Thanks

Mine's being mounted in a lock box on the passenger side rear running board (1ton International long box)

  10. I have one of those small dry cell batteries mounted inside a firewall colored box. Hardly takes up any room. Every car I have has the battery in a convenient place. I like to be able to get to the components without taking the car apart.

  11. It's a metal trunk that was originally mounted on the back of a 1932 Chevy.

This is the only other photo I have that shows the trunk.HRP

While this keeps everything clean under the hood, the trunk is raised by linear actuator, so a dead battery means the back seat has to come out.

  13. Mounted mine between the rails under the box. I used a a vega tank at the time. Since the rear axle is a vette, the drive shaft does not move so i had clearance. Trunk is used as a trunk in mine.

On my 23 I had almost no room for a battery but found that little Odyssey battery that measures 3 x 3 x7 and was able to tuck it in front of the rear end right on the frame kickup. If it wasn't for that battery I would have been SOL.

That's a cool little battery! What's the original application? How many CCA? Would have been nice to know about one of these for my A pickup.

I hung an Optima upside down under the very short bed on my '41 Ford truck. It's in a cage that swings down by taking out two bolts.

Morris: stock location over the bellhousing. Don't know if that will be the final location, because I can't stop redesigning.

'31: not yet decided, but two small batteries in the extreme rear of running-board-type battery boxes are a distinct possibility at this stage.
