I posted this in a community forum, but haven't gotten any response, so I'll try it here. I'm planning a trip to Ottawa the first weekend in August, and I just wondered if there were any shows or things going on that weekend. I see there is the Rigaud Hot Rod and Custom Rumble on the 3rd... is that worth going to?
My wife and I are planning a vacation to Ottawa, but we are always looking for a good car show. Is it mostly traditional cars? I'm also worried about communication, as I cannot speak any French. Will this be a problem?

Don't worry about not speaking french, August 4th there is a show in Brockville, about an hour south of Ottawa on the river, nice spot. Are you just here for the weekend? There are some cruise nights during the week as well, Tuesday at Hazeldean Mall in Kanata (a suburb), Wednesday night (informal get together at a coffee shop), another Wednesday night cruise night at the horse track/casino, Friday night cruise on Carling Ave. PM me if you need some details. Rigaud has alot of traditional cars, the others, well muscle cars are pretty popular up here........... Hope that helps
If you are staying more east Ottawa, Tuesday night is the cruise night in Rockland (east of Ottawa) where I live. Decent turn out when the sun is shinning.
I'm really getting excited for this trip now. I think I'll be able to bring the roadster up for the show too! I'm not sure about the Tuesday night cruise, as we will most likely be heading home by then. It does sound like you have quite a few weekly cruises in that area. It would also be cool to meet up with some of you at the Rigaud show.
Couple of hours away and I am embarrassed to admit I have never heard of the show. Sounds like a good time.

what is your arrival and departure dates? normally i don't attend these shows but i like the ambience of this one. also on the 10th there is a drag race and show at capital city speedway, ONDR are going to be there gassers and feds never been there but planning to be there trying to get my friends to race also some are bringing their hot rods one is the car on the cover of the magazine in the post above.
Tikiwagon13, I'll plan on heading over there in the morning. Any idea how many are meeting there? Jeff/21, I'll be getting up there Friday (Aug. 2nd) afternoon/evening. We will need to head back Tuesday (Aug. 6th) morning. I really wish I could stay longer, but my wife has a limited number of days off. I'd love to come, but it won't happen this trip.
To bad your wife has to be back home, as the Dragfest at Capital City Speedway on the 10th and 11th should have a good turn out with a car show attached.
There is a show in Westport Sat, about 1-1/2HR south west of Ottawa, and another show Sunday about 1HR west of Ottawa at Lanark.
i can't swear to it $10 to display and free entry for spectators but they ask for a donation for the hospital

Looked like a pretty good turn out this year. The band kept playing even after the rain started coming down.
nsh57 which car was yours? i would have liked to have met you, wasn't there long got there at noon left after the feds started up. met some people from Vancouver travelling through and stopped by spent most of may time lifting kids in and out of my friends fed to get their picture taken a lot of big grins. the bands were good and played almost non stop and people were dancing

i looked at your car a couple of times never checked the plate looks like someone drives it a lot, just what cars are built for.
