I can only get one pic in each post .... I need to duplicate the signal produced by this cruise control switch on the gray wire (1884) 12volts thru an 8.5k when on and Looks like its simply 12 volts thru a 4.25k ohm resistor for resume/accelerate and 12 volts thru a 1.5k ohm resistor for set/ cruise. I'm guessing your trying to replicate a stock switch that doesn't fit with your current set up? I had the same problem because my donor vehicles stock switches were in the steering wheel. I tried going this route as well. I didn't have the values, so I bought a set of stock switches out of the junkyard and measured them. Long story short, it didn't work and I'm not really sure why, but I think it might have been due to changing the overall system resistance by shortening the wiring harness and eliminating the clock sping assembly in the column. I'm going to try using the stock harness and switches, and just hid them inside the center console since they DON'T match the interior of the car. Just food for thought, hopefully yours will work fine.
Depends on what you mean by stack. If you put them in series then the resistance is additive Rtotal = R1+ R2. If you put them in parallel then the formula is Rtotal = (R1*R2)/(R1+R2)
Between changing jobs at work, a 17 month old (and #2 due in a week) it took me FAR to long to find my stash of electronics crap and actually sort through the resistors: 8.25k = 8.2k (Gry Rd Rd) + (2) 100 (Br Bk Br) in parallel 4.42k = (2) 2.2k (Rd Rd Rd) in series + (2) 100 (Br Bk Br) in series 1.5k = (Br Grn Rd) If you still need 'em, PM me your mailing address and they are heading your way.
For future reference, when you need electronic components you should always check these two places right after your local Radio Shack: www.mouser.com www.digikey.com Those places literally sell everything. If it is available, they have it and will get it to you in two to three days. One part or ten thousand. Plus, if you buy from digikey they will send you a giant (like 4" thick) catalog every three weeks for the rest of your life. Buy your resistors and as a bonus, get free packing material/shit paper for life!
