First guy to break into the 200's in a fueler..

  5. My girlfriend and I waited patiently in the rain while The Greek mixed his fuel. I knew this was my only chance to meet one of my heros. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1373154152.625251.jpg

If you go back tomorrow, and wander back to his pit, Tell Dennis(his Crew Chief) that both his funnycar tanks are done. See what kind of reaction that gets.

That is certainly a "Big Deal" to many of us, he looks great as he is in his 80's. I remember him at a CHHR about ten years ago, we were in the "Cacklefest", and he was one of the last of about 40 cars in the lineup. Many of us had shut off our engines, removed our helmets and fire masks, and were watching the final few cars make the turn at the tower and drive by us. In the twilight, here comes Chris, with big head of silver hair, and wrap around sunglasses, (no helmet) and 3' header flames belching out of that ground shaking Chrysler, I thought "Now There Is A Showman"!

  8. A lot of people in their 80's probably shouldn't have a drivers license... I watched this man run a 4.02 in the quarter mile today. Hats off to The Greek!

Dennis will have it soft for elims and wait for Shumacher to make a mistake, no chance that he can run with Tony, but Tony will have it on kill for lane choice

  11. Marty, you are correct. 4.02- 264.55 in 1000'

Back in the dim past, I learned a couple things about picric acid and hydrazine from him.
    Neat guy.

  15. Flagged him as a kid in Florida. Last saw him in the eighties in a diner at 3:00 in the morning and he was heading back north after running at the local drag strip. He asked me if I had ever learned how to flag.

Greek takes out Shumacher first round

  19. I'm 68 and it would be a huge deal to me to meet Chris! I first saw him run at the March meet in 1960. The captain of the Greek Fleet was, and is fearless!

  20. Love it. Proves that the Old Dog still has some bite left in him!

Awesome! I have the race on DVR but haven't watched it yet. Another round win for The Greek, second one in the last two years. Props to Lucas oil for helping him out.

I was clapping and laughing when he got by Shumacher, crowd went crazy. Shumacher gave him a pair of new tires for the second round, he did run another 3 but wasn't enough, but I was huge happy for him anyhow.

  26. That's awesome!!! So cool that he's STILL racing and kicking A$$!!!

  27. The crowd was going crazy when Greek blew by Tony Schumacher. It's great to see people still care and still route for The Greek!
