I have known about this car for quite some time. It's been sitting here in town for the past 25 years. 1956 Buick 2 Door Special. 57,000 miles on it. Went and picked it up yesterday. Checked the fluids, changed the oil, put a battery in it and it started right up! Has the original nailhead in it, very clean. Floors are solid. A very small amount of rot in the rockers which will be an easy fix. Some small dings and dents. Despite the photos; all of the trim is there, it's just not on the car right now. We believe all of the interior is original. all of the lights work, glass is good. It's not pristine but it's a great driver as it sits and down the road it will be an easy restoration. Not quite sure what we're going to do with it because we don't really have any place to store it long term but We drove it all over last night!
"Not quite sure what we're going to do with it because we don't really have any place to store it long term but We drove it all over last night!" Well then........... I'd be willing to take it off your hands. But then again, the transport costs may become prohibitive from "somewhere" Let me know !! Gatz
Nice find. On those closed drive shaft Buicks, be sure the seal at the back of the tranny is OK after sitting so long. If tranny fluid leaks into the differiental through the tube it will toast the rear end.
A friend of mine has had it since 88. He bought the car as it sits with the intentions of making it nice. he took about 3 pieces of trim off and there it sat. The car supposedly came out of New York originally. That's about all we have on it for info.
thank you . My other half is in love with it, which is a bad thing because we have no where to keep it! He did all the brakes on it last night so it's ready for driving! I'm too short to drive standard effectively (I have to sit against the wheel in order to push the clutch in) so maybe this car can be my cruiser .
Clean car and if it's solid, great find. One of my customers been looking for a mid 50's Buick HT now for a couple years, seems every one we find is rusty (even here in the dry SW) or missing too much, let alone runs!
Your friend needs a lesson on what Nice is. That car is nice like it is. It's good to see someone has it that will appreciate it. Don't where you are but you can store it in my ship forever if you don't have room for it.
When you find a car like that there are 4 things to do. Insure it, register it, fill the tank, and drive it!!
