'Bubby Strident' x2, Sir Stirling working on his F3 or 500cc Kieft, a pair of Peugeots and a backyard with a ute from Broady - great stuff - and the transportation vehicles site looks like a goldmine, too.

The original text reads:Tomball, Texas earned the nickname of “Oiltown, U.S.A.” after a major oil strike just southwest of town on May 27th, 1933. Not very many years later we find old Cecil, who held the office of Mayor at the time, cleaning a sign at his service station. Of note are the two types of gas pumps visible in this shot, a modern electric on the left and a much older manually operated one of the visible style on the right. Learn more on The Old Motor and also see 100s of other vintage gas station photos.
    _____
I think the 1933 date came from when the oilstrike was, not the date of the photo, read: "Not very many years later"

Pan Am ditched one of these in the Pacific in '56. Everyone survived.

Obviously Mr Batters was a leg man.

Some guys like girls with fat legs, some guys like girls with thin legs.

But most guys prefer something in between.

    Nyuk nyuk.

Howard Hughes lived in Las Vegas, He had several quirks, one of which was that he only would entertain Ladies with fresh, clean shaven legs- You see Howard Hughes hated razor stubble- -*This photo was taken outside the Main Gate of his exclusive Villa ...The "Microphone" was amplified through a FM transmitter in the Automobile and sent the high fidelity sound of her "Smoothness Factor" as Howard called it... to the main security room in the Villa . The SF was then attenuated through a series of special Modulators & phase filters which Howard Hughes is given credit for developing. If the SF (Smoothness Factor) of the candidate female passed the test she was allowed to enter the grounds of the Villa for further intimate relations with Howard Hughes. .

  29. Howard Hughes came to Vegas to live in the mid '60s, (around 66 or 67) and rented the entire top floor of the Dessert Inn hotel. After staying there for quite awhile he was told he had to give up the floor for high rollers to use. He refused to leave and bought the hotel and after buying the DI bought several more. This picture doesn't look like it was taken at the DI. The caddy is a little old even for '66 or '67.
